Facebook probably has a group for lost dogs in your area. Hope you find your pup! Post a pic here too and possibly on the OT with general location

i have done all that... usually when he gets out we notice within 5 minutes and he is playing in the neighbors front yard.

However, i think he got out when we were hanging out on the deck around 8pm so he could be anywhere.

they have those small little round tracking chips for things that you can hang on their colors, every pet owner should get one for their pet if they love them

Maybe call local vet offices in case someone brought him in. Is he microchipped?

so you rather never have any way to know your lost pets location then, ok good to know where you stand.

do you shoot the cats and dogs in your neighborhood as well?

First thing to do if you have a pup is get a chip in them. LSU Vet school used to offer it at $25. Don't know if that is still the case now.

Next door will probably be where he is found. That app has really caught on in my area which is just across Perkins from south downs

very true but that chip only work "after" they are found, brought to a vet or pound, and only then get scanned to notify the owner.

with the tracking collar you can simply take out your phone, click on the app and see where their exact location is.

The man is asking for suggestions/tips for a dog that is already missing, not for douchebags to chime in on how to build the Delorean so he can travel back in time and chip the dog.

OP good luck finding the pup; I have no other advice that hasn't already been said, just hope it works out.

our dog was returned on friday afternoon. Right before I left work, I got an email through next door saying she has the dog.

I think I am going to get a tracking collar versus a chip.

Get both. Collars fall off or get pulled off. A chip is embedded underneath the skin. It's a quick, simple procedure and that way if your dog ever shows up at a vet, someone will be able to contact you.
