Does anyone have a suggestion for a charter out of Big Lake? What would be the best time of year for specks and reds? TIA

Hackberry Rod & Gun has nice facilities and we usually do fairly well when we go with them. If you want to catch some big trout look at Adams Trophy Charters. He catches some serious monsters.

There are hotspots over the lake all year. I like to book from the middle of May through the end of August because I like to fish under the flocks of birds.

I think Jared is giving up the guiding... Not 100% sure but I am friends with him on FB and I think he is taking a regular job and his fishing efforts will be focused on the CCA Star Tournament and having at least 1 member of his family win the tournament for the foreseeable future

He does catch some monsters though and would be a great choice if he changes his mind and continues with his business.

Was it Adams that had some back and forth a while back with other guides or something?

I'm friends with Dubya. He's good guy but even he would say Capt. Bruce Baugh is the best there was and most likely will ever be.

Why would a Bait Boy make fun of someone buying bait?
Maybe the Bait Boy needs a new career and a GED.

Just a question.....

Big =/= good fighter. Most big meat heads like that are 99% slow twitch muscles. They lack agility and flexibility. Also, a lot of them become muscle heads as a way to compensate for an innate sissiness.

This is true. Capt Bruce is the best in the business.

Just speaking from my experience, I wouldn't go with Waltrip again. Been once and he isn't a charter guide. He is more worried about him catching fish and getting a limit than he is about you catching fish. He will sit on the front of the boat with the trolling motor and always puts himself in the best position to catch fish. Watched it happen for an entire day. Really frustrating. Actually had my line pop and him keep fishing while telling me where I could dig around to find another lead head and plastic..... I am capable of doing it but I wasn't fishing with a friend. I was paying him a good amount of money to do that.
Granted he does catch fish and knows where the fish are, but there are better actual guides then him. If all you care about is taking a picture with fish at the end of the day, then he is a good choice.
