Are they worth it for someone familiar with boating but not coastal Louisiana? Seems like a nice chunk of change but if it shows routes, known objects, reefs etc is it worth it?

I love mine. So many changes since Katrina. Small amount of money for an added layer of safety.

I have the legend chartography card. I don’t do any fishing on the coast mostly marsh, bayou black area. My card does have channel markers shown in the display, and they are pretty accurate.

I know they say you aren’t suppose to use it for navigation but we were staying at the camp one night and some knocks on the door after dark. They were lost and the camp in the middle of the marsh. They needed to get back to Bob’s. I lead them to the mouth of the pipeline canal pretty much using my lowrance for navigation and a light to check our location in the canal. It kept us right in the middle of the canal.

Definitely worth it with safe routes already marked. That's the main feature that's selling me in the premium.

I like the safe routes now that I don't fish Pointe la Hache anymore. Damn you Mardi Gras pass!

I put a Lowrance Elite Ti on my duck boat and purchased the Standard Mapping card. Standard has excellent map info and even includes small trenausses. It makes a huge difference-- especially travelling in the wee hours before hunting starts.
