Specklebelly Decoy Paint Job

Getting excited about the upcoming season. I have a six pack of old Tanglefree speck decoys. A couple of years ago I painted them white or just the heads white since the original paint had gone to shite.
So I went to walmart for flat white and flat black rattle cans. Then ran by Hobby Lobby for some acrylic Jack-o-lantern orange, brown and some paint brushes of different sizes.
Came out like this after 8 or 10 beers.
How'd I do? What do you think?

Damn fine work
Thanks fellas.
I've lost all the stands, and had been just throwing them on the ground as seen in the pics for snow goose hunts. I feel like these deserve a full make over. So that's my next project. There is a 1/2" pvc insert that has a small hole in the capped end for the traditional stands. I think I can remove those and just cut the same size pvc about 30" long so it goes in the decoy and leaves about 22" to jab in the ground. Paint the exposed portion of the pvc with the same paint I did the bills.

They had a flock of specks fly over the house this morning. Bring em over and we will see how good they are

Because we're a couple of cheese dick goose hunters.
They look good in the daylight though, right? I was worried the brown was too shiny, so after I did the brown heads and backs I lightly hit them with a brush of flat black to darken and cut down on the glare. It came out great, but doesn't really show in the picture. I think next I need to rub them down with some good old fashioned garden soil/dirt.
I'm also thinking about doing some of my snow shells now...

I picked up a few Canadian floaters online this summer that were cheap. Wanted to paint them like specks but figured it be too much work and was just going to paint them as snows, but your post may have inspired me

YE Ye
You can buy GHG stakes and the little cones you attach to the decoy. Like on the full bodies

It was actually easier than I thought. The light tan breast is the only thing I didn't have to paint, and should be the same with canada decoys.
Just get your colors and pull up a pic of a new speck full body decoy on your phone to work off of. The white on the wing outline, and the white front/orange bill really sets them off.

I hunted with a guy who had the cones, real motion I believe they are called, last season. They moved really well.
Unfortunately, there is only a 1/2 inch hole in the bottom of these. So I couldn't retro fit these without taking a reciprocating saw to their bellies.

Alright, went home for lunch and messed with them. Gave them a little light sanding with some handfuls of dirt across their backs to cut down the glare. You can also see the light black on their backs I did to darken and create contrast.
Here are some pics of the stand receivers. It's just a piece of pvc. I'm going to cut some longer and just jab the pipe in the ground. I think 30" so it will go deep to be sturdy, and get it up from dry to shin deep water.

I think you need a few with the heads up.

Great job bud. Speaking of specks I've been seeing a bunch this week along with Mallards, widgeon, pintails and teal. I think we're going to have a good season. We're do for one

For sure. I have some other shells and windsocks. I like to run about 1 to 5 head up vs feeders. You can see my snow shells in this pic. They're pretty well used. Thinking about re painting them as specks.
