Fishing Bay st.Louis this weekend we see fish busting. Bout 100 yards from the marina. 6 year old hangs one on a zebco 33 ends up being a 16 inch spanish. This is my first full season living on the GC but this cant be normal right? In the bay?

Catch em on the beaches all the time in Grand Isle and Fourchon.

Throw anything shiny and they will hit it when they are there. Just don't throw anything expensive cuz they will cut through your line like nothing, even braid.

I know jack shite about fishing. The only time I ever took the charter boat out fishing was out of Gulfport and the boat caught over 200 Spanish Mackerel. I must of caught 30 by myself. We were in a school of them all day long. We got tired of catching them after a while and started going after Sharks. Caught 13 of those. lol

Nothing pisses me off more than catching spanish mackerel unless I need cut bait.

They're good to eat if you don't freeze them.

We caught 4-5 on the beach at Grand Isle this weekend. Not that unusual. Used to get in big schools of them off the beach at Fort Morgan, AL.

Cut out the blood line completely, soak in a little vinegar water for a few minutes, and they fry up nicely.
