Send half to me, no way Bueche can handle that big of a disposal effort.

I’ve been seeing them more and more in trout and reds. The 3 bass I caught this week in Delacroix had them as well. I had never seen them in bass prior.

Be lucky it’s only 25-30%. Grand isle is probably at least 75% right now. If a spot in the fillet is really bad, I will try to cut it out. I usually don’t worry about it otherwise, you don’t taste them.

Black drum and reds get them bad. As long as I fry them before the family sees them it’s all good. I won’t keep big black drum by they can be completely infested whic, even for me, is hard to stomach

re: Spaghetti worms in trout
they are harmless, only the red worms are something to fear

pull out as much of the spaghetti worms and the rest will dissolve in the grease. they are 97% just water and dissolve completely in hot grease

unless you are eating the fish raw making sushi then dont freak out over them

get a pair or tweezers or small needle nose pliers and just remove the damn things if it grosses you out. They come out real easy.

Heard long time ago that they were caused by the fish eating seagull shite that has parasites.
You always look for the birds when looking for trout and we’ve all heard the saying shite like a seagull. May have some truth to it.

The spaghetti worms we see in these fish are really parasitic tapeworms of sharks, who are just using the trout or drum as an intermediate host.
