So I got bats....edited

Built my house about three years ago with a decent sized patio (30x30).
Now every time we try to enjoy our patio (once or twice a week) bats come and circle it every 5-10 mins. It freaks out my wife and our guest and I am looking to repel them away from the area.
We live on 1.5 acres and there is a pond on the back corner of our neighbors lot.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
ETA: The advice here was just enjoy the bats. But did a little goggle research and it told me to stalk the bats and learn their patterns. I did and realized they were roosting in a column off my back porch. After much research I learned there are many laws protecting bats. So I had the option to invest a grand to a wildlife federation to remove them, or spend a couple hours learning the laws and understand how to “exclude” them. I waited until the proper time to evict them and spend twenty bucks at Home Depot. I have spent the last couple hours enjoying them leave and not be able to get back in. I will give it a couple more days and will seal off their entry.

Say, "thank GOD" and enjoy the mosquito eaters presence.

If they’re not roosting in your house, then keep them around. Hell, add a couple of bat houses to your property and hope for more of them.
They aren’t going to attack you. They don’t have rabies (no more than any other mammal).

You get your insect free patio all to yourself. Why would you want to change that?

Bats are great. We have a few and enjoy seeing them at dusk.

I love my bats. It's nice to enjoy our outdoor space without getting tore up by mosquitoes. We stay out of his way and he avoids us. Win win!

I have bats. They may fly above you and get kind of close some times, but they won't touch you.
Some bats have been known to fly through a running fan without hitting the blade.
They know what they are doing.

What everyone else has said. I love watching bats and having them around. But, if the wife isn't going to tolerate it, then Google "ultrasonic bat repellant." You'll find plenty of devices to repel them.

If you have a colony, help LDWF out and monitor them. Do some citizen science!

Bats are great. I love watching them fly around above my patio in the evenings.

Educate yourselves on bats and stop being afraid of stuff for no reason.

They are good, but can definitely scare you when they fly right over your head. We have a few in our yard in the evenings so I put up a bat house a few months back.
The more mosquito eaters the better.

Bats are awesome. Quit inviting pussies to hang on your patio.

Educating myself is what I was doing with this thread. Trying to get other people’s opinions on how to handle a situation or learn from other people’s similar experiences.
Never said I was scared. Just said I was tired of hearing my wife and guest complain about them.

I'm shocked I don't have bats. Right on a nasty bayou full of bugs with many palms in the hood.

My little boy loves walking at dusk and watching the bats dive bomb all around us. He asked me if I could catch some for his bedroom
