Happens all the time. Head shape is not a reliable indicator of species.

I've yet to see a snake that SOMEBODY couldn't make into a copperhead.
This one appears to be Nerodia Sipedon like others have said. The Nerodia juveniles can be a little tricky though, with only photos to go by, and no knowledge of your area.
