Looking for a sight platform for redfishing. Looking for something detachable because I also fish a lot of trout. I saw a Werner ladder set up this weekend that was basically a 2foot tall scaffold. Any ideas. tIA

You best bet is to try to find a used one. Search craigslist or some of the fishing message boards. The classifieds on 2coolfishing.com are pretty good. You can have one built but it's gonna cost you several hundred bucks depending on what you want. If you can weld or know someone who welds aluminum, you can buy the material & have them weld it for you. You need to use anodized aluminum tubing. Standard size is 1 1/4". I had mine made out of 1 1/2" but I'm a pretty big ole boy. I used 3/4" starboard for the tops. That was serious overkill & I could have got away with 3/8" or 1/2" at the most. I had mine powdercoated black & added seadek pads to the lids. Needless to say my platforms are built like a brick shithouse!!!

These pics are before I added the seadek pads on the lids:

Smoke was that you're buddies who won the IFA this weekend. The top 3 all went to Delacroix.

We finished top 25, 0.5 lbs out of the money... Fish all but disappeared in all three pond systems we had good weight in, had to go to back up spots in the area to get that weight... Disappointed but fun day none the less... great weather...
Josh had first place up until the very end and he said he almost puked when Stevie's weight hit the scales at the end... It was hard to watch.

The Original question about the ladder... You may want to avoid it, we tried it for a few tourney's in the early years and almost fell numerous times, would have made for a bad day.

Damn, I don't realize they were that close to winning the boat.

Really like the setup you have. If my boat didn't come with a poling platform I would have definitely opted for the tall casting platform in the back. I'm contemplating putting a casting platform on the front of my boat, but I don't want to cut off access to storage.

Do it. They're removable.

Depending on your set-up you can still have access to the storage. I have two different platforms and neither cuts off access to the bow storage compartment. If you typically fish in clear shallow water a platform is a must have item, you have no idea what you are missing without it.

I just got a banshee extreme. I'd have to put a pop up cleat in the front (which I need to do anyway) and I can't see how I wouldn't block at least one hatch. I've only fished the boat once so far and have already spent more money than I wanted to, so the platform can wait I do see how beneficial it would be.

Like stated above, you don't know what you're missing if you're strictly fishing reds.
