Have any of y'all ever have this happen? I was cleaning some ducks this morning and noticed this, and have never seen it before in nearly 50 years of duck hunting. The thing left a big, gaping, hole in the bird, but I was able to salvage the carcass and get him in the freezer.

Nah, but I have pushed a few thru the bird. And they weren’t salvageable.

Hard to do that when my only opportunities are sky blasting.

How close do you think they were? Have to be pretty close.

You must be a heck of a good duck caller to get one that close.

I accidentally put an extra full choke in my Beretta O/U and was shooting 3 inch steel shot. I didn't put the choke through the duck but I just shot it's head off at the neck. Perhaps I did put the wad through the duck.

Later I tried to decide if shooting 3 inch 2s with an extra full choke could be harmful to the gun.

On the jury for a murder trial a while back. Shot number two occurred when the victim was on his back on the ground and most likely stuck his leg up as the killer approached him. Wad was embedded in his shin. Close range for sure.
