1$4600 for this bad boy. Does it do something special? I get it's probably built nicer than the $50 Lowe's model, but 800x nicer?

No doubt this is true and better than the alternative.
It is a damn good looking fire pit.
Anyone who has ever wanted a one off high quality item can tell you that this is worth more than $300.
Anything that isn't mass produced and high quality isn't going to be cheap.

From their site... it's made out of 1/2" cast iron and weighs 370lbs. But still, $4600 for the 50gal. seems damn high.

on 12/19/22 at 1:07 pm to tadmanI had one custom made and it was $450 but it will be my last firepit. That pit is 5' across, yeah that is why it is expensive. It doesn't look to be a tank head like most of the pits that size so if they had to get that bowl made that is more money. I wouldn't pay $4600 for it but I wouldn't expect to pay $300 either.
