Looking for budget scope for my new tikka 30.06.
Diamondback v4 4-12x40
Nikon prostaff 4-12x40
Leupold VX Freedom 3-9x40

Any suggestions or thoughts of the three listed

Not shooting 800 yards and not looking for glass that costs $1000

Thanks

I have a diamondback that I caught on sale and a vx freedom on my wife’s rifle. Of the two I prefer the freedom.
Compared the leupold has better clarity and longer eye relief. I have not compared the two for low light.

Nikon would be a no go for me since they are exiting the business (no more warranty).

I have a few vortex scopes and dots. Had to use their warranty once and they were great. Fast and no issues at all.

If you want to add another inexpensive scope to that list, I have a SIG whiskey scope that I found at academy for $100. It’s on my Ruger precision .22 and the glass is really good. Amazingly so for the price.

They’re supposed to still be honoring all warranty work from the last I read. Did that change?

a good idea to buy a product from a company once the company has decided to discontinue that product line. There's no assurance Nikon will continue to warranty their discontinued product line in the future.

You want the Leupold VX-3. It can be found for under $500 dollars.
The scopes you list paired with your Rifle would be like wearing flip flops with a suit.

I have expensive leupolds and $200 leupolds. Really dont make a difference for 99% of situations for me in mississippi and terrain i hunt. Now when i go to kentucky, or missouri..absolutely.

 Leupold VX-3

IIRC, that diamondback is the cheapest vortex you can get that's made in Taiwan and not China (crossfire). It can also handle the recoil on an O6 & hold zero where a cheaper scope cannot.

When you find a VX-3 on sale, GET IT. you may not need it today, but you will eventually ;) I found one on ebay for $200, lightly used (you would never know it), and the warranty is transferable. The freedom is pretty bare bones, the glass is quality but has no special coatings or fancy reticle. It will handle the O6 recoil and hold zero,

You cannot beat Leupold's warranty. They are a privately owned american company and they makes one of the best scopes out there. That means something to me.

I bought My Rem 700 30.06 Back in 1993 right after high school. I put a Simmons 44 mag scope on it due to it was probably all I could afford back then .

I’ve used this ever year since. Toss it in my truck front seat and hit the woods. Tote through the swamp. Tossed in boats. Climbed climbers with it across the cross bar of the stand. It is the scars to show It and the years and the stories to go along. It’s not a safe queen and in fact, hardly saw a case.

So. For me to put a $800 scope on my rifle isn’t happening. A $200-300 Scope will be a huge upgrade from why I have and should be just fine for Louisiana. Mississippi. Alabama

Well aware, and have no intention of buying a new one, but I already own several. They specifically stated in the press release that they would still honor warranties, and they will still be making optics just not sporting optics. If that’s changed then it’s news to me.

I recently got a vortex Diamondback 3.5 x10-50 on sale at academy for $150. Put it on my ruger AR and seems like a solid scope for the money. Also got some vortex Diamondback binoculars a couple years back and they are great.

Of those I’d go Leupold.

If you’re ok with used, the vx-3 can be found pretty regularly for not too much more than the ones you posted. I’ve also got a Nikon monarch 3 4-16x42 that needs a new home.

Honestly, your best bet is to give a budget and a timeframe. Many of us that have followed optics, know what your can expect for your budget of you can wait
