Optics and light gathering aside, meaning: you can drop the rifle out of a plane, and pick it up and it's still going to be on the money.
I have an old Redfield that is like that on a .308 and I want a scope that good for another rifle, I know The Redfield Name is still out there, but are they still built that solid?

That's about what I figured. The one I have is on a 1959 Winchester model 88,guessing the scope was built late 60s early 70s. It is solid.
I have very good vision,so it works pretty well for me.

The best right now as I understand is Schmidt and Bender.

Nightforce, US Optics, Schmidt and Bender, Premier/Tangent Theta. Those all come to mind. I am probably missing a few. All of those are bombproof though as far as magnified optics go.

The stability is the most important thing to me.

No I am about to buy one from their intro shv line. Haven't decided on magnification range. But for around $900 I'm not sure it's possible to get a more bombproof scope. Their max Line is over 1500 dollars. This will be put ontop my longish range AR.

What model Leupold ? Since they have a lifetime warranty, why not send it back to LEU and have them thoroughly inspect it from top to bottom. Leupold will make it right and possibly send you a new updated replacement

Regarding durable scopes : I have a NF ATACR and a Schmidt & Bender Zenith as both are bombproof

Probably want to look at what the scope is mounted with more than the scope itself, that seems to be were most folks have problems with optic stability.

The BLR has a slight rise from stock to barrel.I am damn minimalist on hardware.

Listen to this guy. I'd suspect the mount before your Leupold. If you confirm the mounting is solid you can always send your scope in under its life time warranty.

Not trying to be a smart arse (probably was an expert in both The Army and USMC before you wee born),but don't you think that is the first thing I check?
I don't have the shoot it up income, that some people here seem to have..but I do what I can. I aint a bad shot, but I can't try everything.
