school me on the Walther CCP
Took the wife shooting this weekend and she shot one. She really like how it felt in her hand and said it was easier for her to handle. She is an experienced shooter and has a couple of other handguns but really wants a CCP for carry. Any feedback on pro/cons with these?

re: school me on the Walther CCP
My wife and I went to Cabela's to look at guns. We each ended up buying. There was a decent line. I watched 4 women go through the process of picking out a gun. All went almost the same. Started with small and pretty, then all ended up with the CCP. Between the fit and easy slide, it ended up being by far my wife's favorite after she figured out the pretty ones were not as comfortable, and had stiffer slides. She got the last one that day.

re: school me on the Walther CCP
Keep in mind this is from a Walther fan but probably isn't super popular among the masses. I haven't met a Walther pistol I didn't like at least in terms of ergonomics/feel and shooting. That being said my personal opinion the CCP is a great little gun for anyone but especially a female that has trouble with slides and such. The soft coil technology they use on this gun really does make the slide easier to pull. My wife and 2 of my sister in laws (who by the way have no experience with guns, went to shows and on their own felt and held several guns and came down to the CCP) love this pistol. I would say a drawback if any is the breakdown with the little tool used to depress but once familiar it is easy. Some don't like the fixed barrel either. It gets a thumbs up from me...good luck!

My wife had problems with the slide. I wanted to get her an Airweight, but ended up with an LCRx 38 spl.

What problems?

It's probably the easiest rackable slide on the planet

I meant in general she has problems with slides. The LCR rectified that.

If it can be fixed with training, why not train her up on something easier to shoot and reload than an LCR? Not to mention a semi auto holds a lot more rounds.

Nothing wrong with choosing a revolver overall but I have yet to meet a female that couldn't rack some variation of full sized 9mm in my classes. 100% success rate.

It's for CCW. Yes, the full size are much easier to rack. I think she's better off with a revolver anyway.

re: school me on the Walther CCP
One of the outdoor channels had a full show on women and handguns. They had a group of women from experienced to beginner shoot various models of popular handguns. Without exception, these women ranked the revolver last. The CCP was the highest ranked 9mm. The highest over all was one of those little Sigs in .380. I was somewhat surprised by the Sig and the revolver. I think it came down to the trigger pull of the revolver plus the different type of recoil.

Were the revolvers Hammerless DA only?

I don't remember. If I find a linkable video of that episode, I'll post it.
