Anyone been to The Rigolets/Fort Pike/Lake St Catherine area since they opened the spill way? Debating a Sat trip and curious the impact.

I would think the dirty river water has to come right through there, so I'm guessing fishing not so good now.

ETA, Lake Borne might be worth a try.

For Trout you will need to go south of the ICW for sure.

Fished Catherine last week and the water was barely salty at all. You might snag a few bass and a red or two.

I can't decide if the Biloxi Marsh is worth my time fishing this weekend. I don't give a shite about trout and will be targeting reds but that's a long ride across the sound to get out there and not have any salt water. I'll prolly end up doing it anyways as I don't want to fight the crowds at the MS barrier islands

Bonnet Carre spillway that dumps into Lake Pontchartrain has been open for a few weeks now. You’re probably thinking of the Morganza spillway. That one hasnt been opened

I just saw a report on Fox 8 that a big section of the levee broke south of Pointe a la hache today and water is flowing really fast towards Hopedale.

Army Corps says Mississippi River flood fight is far from over

Corps officials are also concerned about a possible break in the levee near Mardi Gras Pass in lower Plaquemines Parish which they are now investigating. It does not pose a threat to lives or property.

The Corps says they won’t do anything to close it, but report it to the Coastal Protection and Restoration Authority.

Corps officials say if the break proves to be major they might have to take more serious action to preserve the integrity of the main channel. At this point they don’t believe that will be the case.

Isn’t Mardi Gras pass down by Port Sulfur? Seems like a long way from Hopedale.

Mardi gras pass lets out into breton sound I believe which puts it aimed right at the end of the mrgo. Not sure that a "possible breach" can be enough to affect anything though.

Mardi Gras is just upstream of Port Sulphur on the east side. Unless you’re going down the the rocks at the end of the MRGO I don’t see it affecting hopedale much
