KTVE

quote:

According to Patrick’s daughter, his phone was found next to his open truck door with the vehicle cranked. His boat trailer was in the water and his boat was found around 20 yards away. Patrick has still not been found and a dive team will be searching in the morning. The family is asking anyone with a drone, scent dog, or a boat to come help in the search. Also, volunteers are needed to walk the banks of Hogue Island Hunting Club.

That’s terrible. Praying for a good outcome. Is that kinfolk?

Hogue Island is a gorgeous place. I spent a lot of time back in my prime there as well as Katydid.

Prayers they find him safe before this weather hits.

Not to make light of a bad situation, but if I’m reading this right the daughter’s name is Morgan, and she married a Morgan. Making her name Morgan Morgan.

They found him. Died from drowning. Don’t know any other details.

Whats the guess on this? Heart attack and fell out of the boat?

Has to be something like that. Foul play is doubtful.

Hate to hear that. At least the family won't have to endure the same thing the other families did recently with the young guys down the river.

I bet he backed the trailer up just a little too far, boat started to float away and he ran to try and catch it. Cold water will get you quicker.

They said his boat was found 20 yards away though right? I wouldn’t think in South Louisiana it would be that quick but you never know how it played out either.

This is what appears to have happened. He took his shoes off and rolled up his pants. Tragic man. Damn.

Sad situation. The trooper looks to have been in pretty good shape too. Something doesn’t quite add up, but that’s how things go when you’re dealing with Mother Nature. The cold water may have drained his energy rather quickly, caught a cramp, etc.

Slipped on boat ramp and knocked him unconscious then drowned?

My speculation is he slipped and hit his head or heart attack/stroke/something.

Tragic either way, but if it was just God calling his number, getting ready and going fishing isn’t a bad way to go.

This is a good guess. The algae buildup on a concrete boat ramp is as slick as snot. I’ve busted my arse a few times when I’ve been going slow and cautious while launching a boat. If you get in a hurry it’s totally plausible that you could fall back and knock yourself unconscious.

What kind of boat was it anyone know? As in how was he launching it? Is the current there strong to where if he twisted his ankle or slipped he may have been swept away?

I’m assuming they never found the missing kids or the lab? Sad.

Prayers for the trooper.
