Restringing a bow question

Alcohol involved and a buddy who wants to get into bow hunting wanted to see if he could draw it back with his surgically repaired arm. Long story short, it ended up being accidentally dry fired and now needs to be restrung.
Is this something a bow shop can usually do while I wait or does it have to be dropped off and picked up hours/days later? Bought at Dick’s and they open at 6 tomorrow so was going to try to bring it to them tomorrow night if its something that can be done while I wait. Otherwise I’ll be without my bow on a weekend I got invited to go as a guest to a club
Rifle is my backup option but really would like to score first deer kill with a bow

I wouldn't trust dicks archery department. Not from bad experiences, just seems like they wouldn't know shite. You should definitely bring it to Bowies or spillway, or even Cabelas has a good archery department. Tell them it was dry fired. You might need more than just a string. Dry firing a bow is pretty damn hard on every component of the bow. I doubt they'll do it while you wait unless it's something they have in stock and they aren't backed up. Being tomorrow is thanksgiving, followed by Black Friday, I'll bet you're going to be using that rifle this weekend.

It probably needs more than restrung. I would expect that it has at least bent cams.

It wasnt all the way at full draw before it slipped and fired so hopefully the damage is minimal. Dicks by me seems to have a couple pretty knowledgable guys working their hunting dept every time I’ve been there and needed any help, but if its a situation where Ima have to wait a few days anyway then i’ll bring it to an archery pro shop

Lesson: never draw a bow without an arrow.

You need to have it checked out by someone who knows what they are doing. I wouldn’t let someone at dicks fletch an arrow for me, much less work on my bow.

If they were that good, they probably wouldn't be working at Dick's. They would be in a bow shop somewhere.
I wouldn't trust a box store "bow tech" unless I knew him personally and knew he had experience. It's not like the guy was hired by someone that knows how to work on bows. Possible, but not likely.
Now, if you got the bow set up there, then that's a different story.

They set it up when I bought it there. Archery shop would be first choice but Dicks would probably be only place open tomorrow. Seems like I’m going rifle hunting this weekend though.
How much am I looking at to restring and possibly replace cams? Wondering if it would be worth it to fix this bow as opposed to buying a new one. Never had to mess with the bow since i bought it so i have no clue what repairs cost

Bear...but not even sure of the model bc I knew nothing 2 years ago when I bought it

If you're in the Baton Rouge area, call Cabelas tomorrow and ask them if they can restring a bow the same day. You'll have to tell them the model and they'll have to see if they have that string in stock. They carry Bear bows so they may have the string you need. They're open tomorrow too so they're probably your best option. Like I said earlier, they actually have a guy that's good with bows there even though it's a big store. I was really surprised that he works there instead of somewhere like Bowie, unfortunately I can't remember his name. Id give it a try though.

In NOLA but heading to CENLA either tomorrow evening or Fri morning so I’ll give Cabelas a call

as others have mentioned, bring it to a reputable bow shop with a technician who knows what he's doing
at best: all you need is a new string
at worst: damaged limbs and cams which will need replacing
