Replaced my o2 sensors today

They typically get stuck on, and are a bitch to get off. Not as bad as collector bolts, but I've definitely resorted to Vise grips a couple of times. That's probably why the book charges that much time

have one or both break off and see how long its takes then. Mechanics don't charge how much based on a job going perfectly.

That said, 640 is too much for that job. Way too much.

only if you try to remove them dry, give it a squirt with wd-40 or PB buster and let it soak in for a minute, after that they come out real easy just like a spark plug

If you're definitely replacing them, don't bother buying the special socket with the cutout to fit the wiring harness through. Those sockets tend to flex at the cutout and can strip the O2 sensor.

Instead, just cut the wiring off at the end of the sensor and find a deep socket impact that fits (7/8 in. or 22mm) and use a breaker bar or an impact drill.

Use never seize on the new sensors and a wrench to tighten.

BTW, the upstream O2 sensors (between the engine and catalytic converters) are the important ones. The computer uses info from these to adjust the mixture correctly. The downstream sensors only monitor the catalytic converter efficiency and doesn't effect performance.
