So I replaced out cultured marble countertops about 6 months ago, and we were out of town this week when our house sitter left a hair straightener on our new tops leaving two yellow burn marks. I sanded out the marks, but now it is scuffed and dull in that area. Luckily it's in a corner so it's not super noticeable, but I was wondering if anyone new of a way to repair the gelcoat, or glaze , or whatever finish it is?

I just refurbished a spot on my countertop when I replaced the faucet and the old faucet placement left some discoloration and a rough area.

I used wet/dry paper in the 400 grit to smooth the area out, then came back with 1000 grit with soapy water slurry to really get it nice and slick.

Then I hit it with rubbing compound first, followed by polishing compound mixed with auto wax and that polished it to a nice shine comparable to the rest of the countertop.

I will try that. I only rough sanded it last night to get the marks out. I didn't have any 1000 grit paper. Will be making a trip to Lowe's to get some and some rubbing compound tomorrow

Go to Auto-zone or the like. They'll have it. Not likely to find it at Lowe's
