I'm out of state right now and can't do any fishing till I return on Sunday. It's eating at me way too much I always use a live minnow bc of durability and the obvious (it's live) but wonder what you baws go to lure is?

I've caught 90% of my redfish in the last year fishing a chartreuse gulp curly tail on a jighead.
Last year's lure of choice was an inline spinner, but I haven't tied one on lately.

My favorite is minnows. Like you said they're very durable live bait and trout eat them too. My next would probably be gulp shrimp in new penny

Redfish spinner, gold spoon or gulp swimming mullet. Those are about the only three that I ever use for reds.

I never leave home without my trusty Ginger Avenger Inline spinners. The unofficial official inline spinnerbait of the OB.
And topwaters. Rarely do I pick up anything else.

Always used a 3/4 oz. gold spoon. I just loved throwing it. Even when they were stacked up in dead end canals and biting a dead shrimp under a cork,I had to try catching them n the spoon. I jusr couldn't resist it. Just never felt right catching them any other way.

Artificial: Spinner bait or vudu under a cork
Live/natural: Fresh bait shrimp under a cork
When I go targeting reds, I start off throwing a redfish magic, matrix shad jig, or vudu under a cork (w/vudu sauce). If I'm not getting anything I'll pull out the bait shrimp. Some folks are too proud for that, I'm not. I'd prefer to catch em on a spinner but fresh market shrimp (not frozen stuff) almost guarantees fish.

Was gold spoon but have switched to inline spinner as my favorite. I like the way it fished better. Gold spoon is still great though.

Is there anything they will not hit if presented properly?

Shrimp under a popping cork. No skill or thought required.
Popping cork will call them if they are feeding.
If you are hunting the big ones, go with plastics, or an occasional gold spoon.

Was always my go to. Followed by a spoon. Surprisingly weed friendly even with the exposed hook.
I never really liked fishing live/dead bait, but shrimp would be what I went with for reds.

I get what you're saying but fish are weird. I've been where me and another guy are sight fishing a pond full of reds and they wouldn't eat anything we threw (jig, gulp, spinner, spoon, shrimp, etc...). Then say the only thing left in my box is topwater but it's 11 and clear, no way that'll work. Bam. It's on. I think you can properly present a lure they don't want at the moment for no apparent reason.

Just got back from a friends camp in Theriot. In four days the two of us caught about 80 red fish 80% on dead shrimp fishing the bottom the rest on a mister champ.
