Getting a 20 gauge slug barrel for my son’s 870 to hunt with in illinois. Recommend me a good slug to use.

Rifled barrel?
It doesn't really matter. Whatever it shoots good.

I use remington accutips 260gr in my 20ga slug gun. They shoot great and hit hard.

That's what my H&R Handi-Rifle loves. I located 15 boxes of these a couple of months back at the Covington Academy and left with every box.
I'm shooting a 3/4" group of 4 shots at 100 yards with this round. Every deer I've shot in Illinois, Arkansas, and Louisiana have fallen in their tracks.

For a rifled barrel Winchester partition golds were MOA out of my Winchester 1300 12 gauge. The sabots have a steel base.
