I'm in Raceland.
The State Park at the end if Grand Isle has a shite ton of wild rabbits.

Bayou Segnette State Park has tons of rabbits.
To the OP: 30-35 years ago, my uncle had some beagles and he would hunt the spoil bank/levee on the back levee canal in East Pointe la Hache. Around where Beshels is. Back then the rabbits were thick down there. On one hunt, my cousin shot a deer while rabbit hunting. A nice buck, I think it was a 6 pointer it I remember correctly.

My father in law breeds beagles. He has his own bloodline. He field trials them. People drive from all over the country to breed off of them. Some of the most amazing dogs you have ever seen! But they don’t hunt off of them! Lol. They run around with GoPros filming them. They couldn’t care less about the rabbit!

I used to know a guy with a lot of beagles. He kept a mean arse billy goat in a pen,he had a short legged platform for the dog to hide under. He would put the dog food and water out on the edge of the pen.The beagle would get hungry and thirsty, when he came out for food and water the billygoat would chase him back under the platform. He said a week in the pen with the goat and they would never run another deer.

Yeah I get to hunt pretty close to there once a year. They do have some rabbits, but can confirm they have a lot of deer too!

if you want more rabbits and deer hunt coyotes we made a concentrated effort at 5 packs and in two years are seeing twice as many deer
