Auto, like push button, knife opens.
Isn't that illegal in La?
Not that I would care.

I have never been in any situation where I needed an assisted opening knife or switchblade or whatever. To hell with having a spring loaded blade riding around next to my nuts.
I've carried this knife in my pocket for almost 10 years, and no once have I had an "accidental opening."
Theres also a safety on it if you're into that sort of thing.

Benchmade has their customer service on time.
It was a hard lick to spend $80 on a pocket knife, but like I said I've got 7 extremely hard years on mine and its still got a whole lot of blade left, still opens and locks like its supposed to, and the handle is still in good shape. It ain't pretty no more but it easily has 7 years left in it.
Also, anybody who looses knives can easily be cured by buying an $80 knife. You WILL NOT loose that expensive bastard :lol;

Don't forget about spyderco! Benchmades are nice also but something about that circle for opening on the spyderco. A benchmade with the circle would be sweet, I think the bone collector series has it and I know a Griptillian has one.

I believe a switchblade is considered one that pops straight out. If they have a pivot point and rotate out, I don't believe they are considered switchblades, hence, assisted-open.

Thats my thought process on it all nowadays man.
A buddy of mine that lives uptown, and frequents the red door bar(I think thats the name) that was robbed at gun point a couple times was telling me how he started carrying at the bar. A couple people were like, "well its illegal to carry in a bar!"
His response, was so it robbing people at gun point. So I go with that thought process nowadays, and hopefully somebody in the jury will have common sense and vote not guilty.

True.... but benchmade makes autos that pop out like a normal folder. there is a button and they pop out. assisted means that you have to actually assist the blade out and the spring takes over from there. Honestly, i worked in sporting goods back in the day.... a good knife like benchmade, chris reeves etc etc will open damn near as quick as an auto. Its what makes the axis lock by benchmade so cool.... fricker just flicks open w/o any problems

I had one with a high end kershaw.
It aint a good situation. The benefits come nowhere close to the risks.
I use my knife a whole lot and have never needed assisted opening.

Picking the cheese out of your toes keeps it busy eh?

Yeah, I have an assisted SOG that's a good knife, and I have a regular folding Gerber knife, just convenience I guess.

Ill take an auto before I put another spring loaded knife in my pocket.
If you have one, take the thumb studs off. I have a scar in my thigh to prove they are not worth having.

I agree with you. I do have several assisted open knives but sometimes they can and will open your arse up! I've had one open up in my pocket before. Also the lock is pointless because if you lock it, it's more of a pain in the arse to open than a regular knife.

Spyderco has the opening and locking thing figured out exactly how it should be.
Combo blades are the bee's knees. Never own a straight blade again. I've had probably 10-15 folders, including a Griptilian, and the Spyderco is the winner plain and simple
