Are/were you not nervous at all to put yourself on a government list identifying you as an owner and avid user of firearms? It’s one of the biggest things holding me back. But I guess if they ever used that list against us we’d have more problems to worry about.

Also, how does having a CCL affect your rights in terms of the unfortunate day you have to use your gun?

I know you should get ccl insurance. Anything else I should consider before getting my license?

have you bought a new gun from an FFL?

Hate to tell you but you are probably already on a list. I don't put that much thought into and I support organizations that help keep the government in their lane.

Agreed, if there wasnt a list, how is there the ability for the atf to trace purchases?

Not probably. You are. The news came out last year or earlier this year that the ATF has used Form 4473 to create a registry.

Anyone who thought that they wouldn’t is willfully ignorant.

I lost all of them in subsequent boating accidents.

I’m definitely already on a list somewhere, so yea I suppose my fears don’t make much sense. I’m more worried about the ramifications and rights affected by actually getting the license.

Such as? I quit supporting the NRA.

Sounds like you are new to shooting. You need:

1. A good CCW class. (Some are teaching stuff that will get you killed or imprisoned. In Louisiana the LSP spends ZERO time determining if a CCW instructor knows what he is talking about. This is especially important when it comes to the legal issues.
2. A reliable handgun - which pretty much means an M&P, a Glock, a Sig or an H-K if you plan to get a semi-auto (S&W or Ruger are your viable choices for a revolver). You should avoid the temptation that seems to afflict all the yuppies and get a "full sized" weapon (one that'll hold at least 10 rounds, and preferably 15) instead of a tiny gun to stick in your pocket. A 9mm is what you should be looking for.
3. Get a good belt carried holster (your preference on inside vs. outside the waistband.
4. Get further training at an upper tier defensive handgun training school.
5. Buy a bunch of ammo and get seriously proficient - at least to the point where drawing the pistol and acquiring a sight picture are automatic/instinctive.
6. Don't listen to what the salesman at your local gunstore recommends (You won't know if he's knowledgeable of just a clerk who thinks he is) and don't be influenced by "reviews" in gun magazines or on youtube.

That's a start - Readers' Digest version. There will be dozens of people here shortly to tell you (a) why I'm wrong" and (b) what they think you need to do based on their "experience."

LEO requests trace>ATF contacts manufacturer>If serialized item went to a distributor the they are contacted, if it went to a dealer directly then the they are contacted.

In the end the dealer has to send in a copy of the 4473 done to dispose of the record in their Acquisition/disposition book.

I’m not new to shooting at all. I grew up shooting with my grandpa and It’s my adult hobby. Some guys golf. I hit the range once a week or atleast twice a month and have for years now. I’ve just never concealed carried. And the more I look into it the less I feel I know about it.

As for your list: I have 2,4,5 covered. I love my shield and I shoot it very well. I bought it to train with for a while before pursuing my CCL and I’ve taken plenty of training classes and range time with it and various other full-size I own.

Any recommendations on a reliable and solid CCL classes preferably in southeastern Louisiana or southwest Mississippi?

Appreciate the response

Right, I was thinking of something else.

Etraces take a bit of time. I was confused and thought they were instant or quick. Its bullet traces that are quick/instant.

I have donated all of my purchase's to BLM and Antifa. Nothing illegal about giving someone a firearm as a present.

I’ll add Firearms Policy Coalition (FPC) to the list.

And to your original question, I work under the assumption that unless it was a private cash sale, they already know about it.

well the FFL is supposed to keep the list not the ATF.... but it has been proven in court that the ATF DOES save the NICS applications when, BY-LAW, they are supposed to be destroyed.

I'm sorry because you seem genuine but this sort of talk drove me up a wall when I worked at a gun store. The government already has any and all information they need on you. Get a CHL if you want and buy all the silencers you want. You will hear from people that buying NFA items allows the ATF to pay you a visit and search your home whenever. THIS IS NOT TRUE. They still need a warrant. Bottom line, enjoy life and get what you want.

If you want a La. permit, you must take a class from an instructor approved by LSP. And you must be a La. resident.

Does that clarify things for you ?

I don't want a suppressor because the FedGov is retarded.

They should encourage them, not discourage. I don't have to have one, not giving them $$$ for the right to purchase something like that. Without that stamp, I'm all over one.

I have a Texas permit and I live in Arkansas.

Does that clarify things for you?
