If I remember correctly I have a small browning youth bow in excellent condition in my shop that you can have, will check and update with pics. I'm in Bossier City.

To those saying its crazy to let a 5yo have a bow, its not like I'm going to give him a full quiver of arrows and send him off into the world. It will be a contoled environment where I'm there making sure he doesn't shoot the dog or his brother. To me its no different than letting him shoot my .22 rifle. The only difference is he can hold the bow himself, but I'll be right there making sure he's doing what he's supposed to.

We had bow wars as a child. Actual pointed tips. I know a guy that got hit in the forehead. Could have been really bad. We just got lucky.

Demon, are you still interested in a bow for your son? I got my hands on that youth model Browning, 25 pound draw. If you want it, it's yours. I can post pics when I get home from work.

Bottle Rocket wars in my neighborhood in midearly 70s caused a catostrophic injury.....

That one may be too big for him right now. I measured him the other night and his draw length is 16.5". I'll kick it around but it would be a year or two before he could shoot it.

Y'all may "CSB" or TL;DR me on this one, but I'm thinking that since this is the OB/not OT, y'all may appreciate this.
I have an older cousin, and as a kid I idolized this guy. I'm 46 - he's prolly 52 now. He was only a 3rd cousin, but we saw him/his family everytime we came to North Louisiana as a kid.
Anyway, this dude was "all man". Most of the times I saw him, we'd be headed back to South Louisiana on a Sunday after visiting my grandparents, so this was usually on like a Sunday morning. We'd stop by there house in Winnfield, usually about 9:00, and he was usually
limping around from his Friday night football game, or his Saturday night bull riding. He was a freakin stud on some Ricky Chatman/Jeffery Dale Winnfield football teams.
I'm giving you all the background information because the story won't mean as much without it.
Anyway, he was an only child, and his dad was one of these tough guys types. Marine, fought in Korea. All his dad wanted was this "manly type" son. When this cousin/his son I've been telling y'all about was about 5, and his dad asked him what he wanted for Christmans, he said "ironbode". They thought he wanted an ironing borad. His dad was like "WTF??" - NO, I'VE GOT A GAY SON!!!".
Anyway, his mom, who was as puzzed as his dad, took him to the store to show her what kind of "ironbode", he wanted, and he went straight to the "bow and arrows". He wanted an "arrowandbow".

Take her Chad, even if she screws up your hunt (which she will).
I have one child - an 18 year old daughter. She used to go with me sometimes. Not very often though.
On two seperate occasions, I witnessed old guys absolutely melt - one actually teared up a little bit - at the gas station we used to stop at when we walked in there, holding hands, at about 4:30 am. She'd have her lil' camo clothes on, with her name embroidered in pink on her jacket, pony tail hanging out of her hat. You'll have a mental picture of it for the rest of your life - the same one I'm thinking about right now. Thanks for reminding me of those days.

3 is a little young.
One time when I took my daughter, I brought her to my "slump buster" hole. This little beaver pond in east texas, right off of Caddo Lake, on some land that my uncle owned.
side note - ever wondered where all those ducks you see at daylight go? it's to places like this....
Anyway, this was a place you could only shoot about every 10 days or so, but it was GUARANTEED MALLARDS at daylight for about 30 minutes. Then, hunt over.
We got there, and like always, it gets daylight, you start hearing a little chuckling, and a pair swoops in, lights about 15 yards from my mojo. I whispered to her "are you ready for me to choot'em?"
Predictably...."no, dad, don't shoot them, they're pretty".
No shots were fired that day. We probably watched 15/20 mallards light, then fly off.
