Can you fit 2 car seats in the back seats of the standard 2 door Jeeps? I’ve been seriously considering trading in my truck for a Jeep but I’d need to be able to fit my 2 kids seats in the backseat. The Jeep would be a secondary weekend type vehicle for me

If you're short you will have to lift it to neck level to put the seat in. My wife is 5' and we got rid of her Wrangler. I hate them anyway though.

Jeep life is like no other vehicle. Welcome! Only have a 4 door... no kids. Not helpful at all, I know.

yes. Any Wrangler 2000/2001??? or newer. Before then there were no hookups. I just went through this about a year ago. Ended up with a 2006 unlimited and I have had my daughter behind both the drivers side and passenger side at one point or another.

Look for an 03 and up. Don't fool around with high milage 99-2002's unless you like to turn wrenches. The 0331 head castings were bad and last time I checked promax wanted $700 for a new one. I did the swap on both of the TJ's I owned. Both cracked in the exact same place.

And to answer you question about two car seats in the back seat of a TJ, the answer to that is no.

Damn. You're right. I had to go look it up.

I've owned a couple TJ's and would have bet serious cash you couldn't fit two car seats on that roll and tumble seat.

Yeah I had a rear facing large seat in the back of my TJ. And a booster beside it. When baby #3 came along I had a forward facing and a pumpkin style seat in there. The kind where you latch the base in and pop the seat into it. I bought a larger SUV about a year ago and finally sold the Jeep this spring. Still miss it sometimes but the gas mileage and comfort of the Toyota is great. Planning on passing it to my girl in 5 years and getting a 4 door Jeep or the gladiator.

Yes, it will fit 2 car seats. Nothing else will fit back there though! I have a 02 that I bought new. It’s a second vehicle for me now. It stays in the garage and only comes out on pretty days.

And to all the people that say they don’t last, that has not been my experience. I’ve had mine for 17 years and almost 150,000 miles without a single major issue. I think most dependability issues with wranglers are due to poor maintenance and abuse.

They will fit on the seat, getting them into the seat however.....
With my 2 door JK and my youngest in the front facing seat for the first time the only way i was able to get it on the back seat was when the top was off. There was not enough space between the front seats and the roll cage to squeeze it into there. Booster type seats are easy though

About to change the 2 door out for a new 4 door. Much more practical with 2 kids

My kids won't be in carseats to much longer. It'd just a weekend and errand running car for me. I know it's not practical... but I've wanted a Jeep for 20 years

Yes there are hookups. I have the TJ with a hardtop. You just have to load them from the back window with a rear facing carseat.

You will get some looks pulling your child through the back window, but it gets the job done.

My kids are both front facing... and should be moved from a carseat to a booster here in the next year or so

I got the looks from my wife. Then I told her to try it. She said it was actually easier getting them strapped in while facing them than leaning into her van and doing it from the side.

Yep. People don’t realize that when you take a vehicle off road a lot, shite is going to break sooner and more frequently.

This ^^^. The early JK passenger seat did not move much so getting anything in/out the rear seat was a pain. My TJ had a cracked windshield from the seat going too far toward.
