Our 2017 2-Door Jeep Sport needs new tires. We bought it stock with no lift or big tires. We're looking at adding a 2.5" lift kit with probably 33-35" tires to it. Any recommendations on a solid lift kit we should get?

I'm really leaning towards this one:
2.5" Fox Lift Kit

im on my 3rd jeep now, have had a budget boost lift, rough country lift, rubicon express lift, rancho lift, and terra flex on my jeep previously, i now have AEV on my current JKU. imo its the only answer here unless you want to step up to rock krawler or metal cloak

Not really looking to get a rock crawler. We just want it to basically look like a jeep and ride smoother. Obviously when we originally purchased it we were on a budget but now we can actually afford to upgrade it a little. Starting with a lift and better tires. lol
Both of my brother-in-laws are mechanics so we're going to add the lift ourselves.

Coils are pretty easy to replace. I was going to say skip the fancy shocks, but if you do want a smoother ride, that might help some. But it is a short wheelbase Jeep. When I bought my old TJ, I was planning on the same thing. Run it until it needed new tires and then put a 2-3 inch lift on it and go up a little on tire size, then a baby came along and I just kept it stock. But I also had a YJ back in the day. I wouldn't go much larger than a 2-3 inch lift on a two door Jeep. The JKU is a different story and they look great on 35s or 37s.

As far as tires with decent tread life, good road manners, and decent off road performance, I was very pleased with my BFG Rugged Terrains on my TJ. I went with a 31x10.50. Are the JK rims 17 inch? My TJ had 15 inch rims but I thought the newer Jeeps came with larger rims.

I can't remember exactly what size the rims are on my current tires. They are completely stocked. Ugly as shite lol.

Really like these:

Rock krawler is a brand of suspension lift

Just a note for you. The stock ball joints that come on JK's are not meant to last and lifting it decreases their life even quicker. While you are doing a suspension lift consider upgrading ball joins to quality aftermarket such as Spicer. Worn ball joints and bigger tires can cause it to wander all over the road.

Rock Krawler 2.5" Stock Mod with Bilstein 5100's and 35's. The cheap line of Rock Krawler shocks actually ride nice as well. I have had Fox shocks on a few Jeeps, they suck IMO. Make sure you don't get an E Rated tire, and make sure you aren't running 38PSI either. The only other coils I have found that ride near as good are the EVO coils.

Hit or miss, Synergy owns the Jeep ball joint game.

If you go with 33s you should consider the budget boost. It is basically a larger isolater that sits on top of your spring. It may include longer bumpstops and shock extensions.

Would second this, no need to lift if you get 33s. I leveled with 33's and new pro comps with a proper backspace. Mine's a daily driver and didn't want to change handling too much. If it hadn't been daily driver I would have gone 35s and a lift.

Likely will save $1000 that will pay for the tires!

But wouldn't a lift kit generate a smoother ride versus a leveling kit? That's my biggest reason for wanting a lift kit that provided higher quality shocks and springs.

Depends on the kit, spacers retain the stock springs, lifts with coils don't. In the 900-1000 dollar range it is hard to beat the Rock Krawler Stock Mod for a JK. They ride nice, they include just what you need, and should you decide to upgrade it can be built upon without replacing parts you already bought. Just make sure you don't buy shitty shocks or E rated tires. Lots of guys throw E rated tires on their Jeeps with 35PSI and complain about it being a pile of shite....not the Jeeps fault.

Smart money if you have not changed them.

Keep in mind you have to regear to go to 35's and keep your drive-ability. I'd do 2.5" lift for 33's and a 3.5" lift for 35's. 35's look good!

Personally agree, reality says otherwise. Plenty of JK's running around fine on 35's without gearing.
