Question about fuel injection

The Tundra thread with talk of warranties etc... got me to thinking.....
I had a 2014 Silverado. The fuel injection system went out at 92k. I had a 100k Powertrain warranty. It’s one of the main reasons I bought a Chevy. However, Chevy wouldn’t cover it because they said the fuel injection system is part of the exhaust system. I found this to be innacuarate and a way for GM to dodge paying for repairs. Am I wrong?

Yea they're full of shite on the exhaust comment and they're also dumb. Most exhaust/emissions related components are covered by a pretty long epa mandated warranty.
Still that's not unusual. Manufacturers will often classify expensive and prone to failure components as wear/maintenance items and not cover it. Its probably in something you signed. Powertrain is basically crankshaft, pistons, transmission hard parts, and rear end hard parts. It doesnt actually cover much of anything other than catastrophic failure.
No reason to give up though. Bitch and moan and call and do not go away.

IIRC, the exhaust system is 100k mandatory warranty. I had Toyota change out a cracked exhaust manifold on my Tacoma from mud riding. I think I was at like 95k

Did you purchase any extended warranty? Thatll help your case if so.
Either way if you feel like you are being bent over by the dealer, let Chevrolet know. Manufacturers generally have a system to report dealer issues and they will get involved if they feel like their customers are being wronged. Dealer level service departments are a total crapshoot from the most helpful people you'll find to people who go to bed at night thinking of how to frick people over. The good news in manufacturers have near zero tolerance for the latter and will get very involved in fixing the problem.

Usually there is some sort of regional manager for the manufacture that has the ultimate decision on major repairs. Id say at least make sure it has gotten to that level and not just nixed by the service manager from the dealer

When you buy a truck, like almost any manufactured good, you're buying that company's engineering and business practice decisions. I don't pretend that Toyota is perfect. But, on balance, their decisions and choices line up with my expectations for a vehicle.
Before Toyota, I was a Ford man. And Ford is good, but not great. GM/Chevy and Dodge aren't even on my radar.

Damn, they must've changed it. This was around 10 years ago

Toyota pisses me off because they wont allow certain parts to be sold outside of the dealers.
Break a 4x4 transfer case actuator on a Tacoma and be ready to get wallet raped. Cant buy one anywhere.

Piece of junk and an absolute bullshite that they won't warranty under power train. It is a direct injection system that is driven by engine oil pressure, like a diesel. No certified mechanic on earth is going to say that it 100% has nothing to do with engine oil pressure.
Common failure that they all dealers fight and we end up fixing because customer is tired of dealing with it. The few customers that fight it pull their pants down.
