PSA: Alum Boats and PT Trailer Bunks Don’t Mix!

Here’s some pictures of a Tim’s Marine flat boat that came in my shop for repair. Pressure treated lumber contains copper and other metals. Combine it with wet carpet and you’re going to have corrosion problems.

Replace that carpet with vinyl bunk covers or HDPE slicks before it’s too late!

Owner couldn’t figure out why he had water in the floor before it was that bad???

That happened to a 10yr old xpress my FIL had with carpet bunks on trailer.

Good post. A lot of people think that because aluminum doesn’t rust that it doesn’t corrode at all. ACQ and aluminum is a bad mix, and salt isn’t too friendly to it either.
