Yes. TP2's. In 2004. I had a local shop do them. I think it cost a little over $200 back then.

One set of replacement frames, and 14 years later, with some lense scratches, and they are hanging around my neck right now.

Buy a pair of regular costas. Whatever frame you want. Dont spend the extra for the upgraded lenses.
Go to your eye Dr (Dr Hosea in my home town).
Get them to send off Costa frames and they get your polarizex Rx lenses put in for about $100

Yeah, I bought the frames I like at a really good price, but now looking at spending twice as much on just lenses

I could go ahead and get LASIK for what it costs to get scripts put in Costas.

You can't get prescription 580 glass from Costa for cheap, it's just under $500 to get them. If you go with your eye Dr, it voids the warranty with Costa. I just researched this a few days ago. Sent 2 frames back to repair and inquired.

I spent the extra money to get them from Costa. I considered having my doctor replace the lenses, but it was an old pair of stringers and it would have been a couple of hundred dollars. I just upgraded to a new pair. I'm glad I did, too.

Damn....being a vet I get a pretty good discount from a specific Oakley site BUT if I had to pay $380 (or tree fiddy) I would.

For any you vets that want Oakleys here's the site for vets - www.standardissue@oakley.com.

I had a pair of Harpoons that were given to me as a gift. Went to my eyeglass provider and they sent them to Costa to have 580 prescription lenses installed. Cost about $450.00. You can get readers from Costa in various magnification.

That sounds like they just charged you for a new pair. Thats how much my wifes new prescription 580g's were with frames.

A friend of mine sells Costas, but not Rx. I have asked numerous times and Costa wont let him send off frames for me for Rx lenses. Says every time you have to buy them outright

I've been considering this route. How long did it take to get them back and any complaints?

AC LENS.com has a code for the month May $40 off of $150 prescription sunglasses.

code is 40RXSUN150

I almost got some but chickened out. Ended up buying some Oakleys from the eye doctor, just in case I have an issue. Paid $100 more though.

No costas, but Oakleys and Maui Jim and others

I haven't done it yet. Still shopping around locally but that's the price to beat so far.
