Possible to keep crawfish alive for a couple days?
I live in St. Louis, and my buddies want me to do a boil on Monday, the day after Easter. So, to get them here I'd have them shipped Friday, arrive Saturday, and then boil Monday. Do you think this is possible? I've seen some advice to put a layer of ice down in a cooler with a towel on top and stick them on there with the lid open tilted so the water runs out with another damp towel on top. Any other suggestions? Think its possible?

put the bag in an ice chest
open the drain
put a bag of ice on top of the crawfish
crack the lid and shim up one side of the chest so the water drains
keep the ice chest out of the sun

I’ve gotten 4 days like that

They may be hard to find this close to Good Friday .
But people ship all the time . The time frame you stated is possible to keep them alive .

It's really tough to keep them alive after shipping. I've tried doing this, and over half were dead by the time I boiled.

It's possible but shipping any kind of seafood is always a crapshoot. Just a few hours of mishandling (which is entirely possible) can ruin everything. Its a gamble that only you can really know if it is worth the cost.

It honestly depends on the condition of the crawfish prior to and during shipping to you. If they were shipped well with minimal stress, yes you can keep the majority alive for a couple days until cooking, if they were shipped in a significantly stressed state, you’ll have significant death loss prior to cooking, regardless of how well you handle them after receiving them.

I used lacrawfish.com last year and they were in great shape when they got to me, but I boiled them that afternoon. Just worried about keeping them for two more days this go round.

Keep them in the sack, in a shaded ice chest, make SURE to keep the chest drained, plug open. You’ll be fine.

I would just like to say, that I did this and it worked wonderfully. Thank you.

The crawfish were shipped to a store here Friday and I bought them live Saturday, kept almost all of them alive until Monday, just had to fish some dead ones out while rinsing them.
