Was going to try fishing point aux chene for 1st time and cannot find if the marina sells live shrimp there or not. Tried calling and cannot get anyone to pickup. Anyone know if they sell live shrimp or any type of live bait?

Eddie PAC Kayak Rental for sure has live minnows and crabs, he has two huge cages in the water. I never seen a shrimp cage. He has real nice set up for kayaks and is a good guy.

Can you use those kayak slips if you have your own kayak?

Meaning can you launch there? Absolutely. Easily the nicest kayak launch setup I've ever been to, he charges $5 per kayak, he has ice on site, live bait(mainly minnows and crabs), dead shrimp, and a well stocked(and cheap) tackle shop.

I've never been but hear it's the most legit setup in LA. How easy is it to get into a kayak from that dock? Looks like I'd bust my arse

not to be critical at all, but why would you want to fish live shrimp in the marsh this time of year? pretty much any specks you find will be small with very few keepers. If after reds dead shrimp under a cork will get you a limit pretty quick as will live minnows.
spinner baits and spoons will also produce well in the PAC area. If after keeper specks you have to go south to the islands in Timbalier bay or even out to the surf.

You basically step off the dock that floats along side your kayak and right into your kayak. Easy.

You don't have to go that far, but yeah you need to get out the close marsh.

I don't really trout fish much man. Getting into it from bass fishing so long. We tried surf fishing elmer's island this past Saturday evening and got scratched on trout. All bridgeside had were minnows and nothing touched them at all. Caught a couple of gaftoos on top waters. Fished bridge that night under lights and only one group of guys from Slidell had live shrimp and were doing pretty good. Everyone else that had live minnows or dead shrimp just watched. Was interested in fishing pointe aux chene since I've heard good things there and figured I could get to Lake Chein and fish bays out there. Wasn't planning on going north from landing.
