My Dad ordered one of these yesterday because some guys at his work said it was a decent reel for the money. He impulsively ordered it. It sounds very Chinese, which is not really a good thing.

Is this thing any good?

Super late bump but I would like to know as well. Looking at this as well as I have only been once and want to have something to mess around with.

Thanks for the help.

My dad got this reel a couple weeks ago...yeah it's not great. My Tatula blows it away in terms of quality, smoothness, casting distance, etc. I know I'm comparing a $100+ reel to $50-70 reel, but the difference is pretty noticeable. It feels like it won't last more than a couple years of regular use...maybe less.

I probably wouldn't recommend buying it.

Couple of options:

H20 Mettle from Academy
Any of the entry level Lew's reels should be great starters

Next spring, keep an eye out for the Bass Pro brand "Pro Qualifier". Retails for $100 but they frequently cut it back to $50 during the spring fishing classic.
