Pickup truck recommendation

In the market for a pickup. I know people have been bashing Dodge pickups over the years, and rightfully so, but the new 1500s look really sharp, especially the Rebel model.
Im about to graduate residency and take a job in rural Alaska. Needless to say, I need something that can take that terrain. I've been looking at off-road models and the new Rebel just looks so bad arse. Maybe it's bc I've been driving shite box cars my whole life and can finally afford a nice pickup. If they are in fact a bad purchase, I'm hoping someone can talk some sense into me and point me in a better direction. Thanks guys

Make sure you have heated seats if you get that leather

I’ve never been a dodge fan but those do look a lot nicer than previously. I just bought a 2018 GMC Sierra z71 SLT last month. Very happy so far.

I am planning on upgrading in next 6 months. I had decided on an F-150 but I am definitely going to check out the new Rams as well. Their interiors are extremely nice and now the backseat is even roomier than the Ford.

I have been supremely impressed by their trucks since 2010 - 2012 forward, overall. Still not enough to buy one because I would just have so many questions, but I have to give credit where credit is due - Dodge (Ram?) came a long way up from the very bottom.

I really like the tire tracks going up and down the seats. It lets me know I'm in a capable truck and not just paying for some gimmicky trim package.

You're going to be in Alaska.
It's cold as shite.
It snows a lot.
You want a truck....
Buy an SUV, Chevy or preferably Toyota.
I would buy a used loaded out 4runner or GX460 and call it a day. Gonna get fricked up anyways up there.

So is this a subtle brag thread?

Well, then, I'm going to help you out...

You're going to need a (real) Jeep (meaning Wrangler) and a good mechanic - OR a Toyota (4WD Tacoma, 4Runner, Tundra, Sequoia or Land Cruiser).
I mean, if you're serious.

I'm torn. I really like the F150...and you know you're getting a reliable pickup.. but Dodge really stepped up with their 2019 lineup.

Finally someone with some sense.
I only recommended a new GM product because the small block with 0w20 tolerates the cold really well.

Lol. Definitely not my intention, sorry if it came across like that. If you didn't know, residency is shite. You get paid Jack shite for insane work hours and now I can actually afford to drive something other than a 2003 Camry. I want a nice truck, sue me

And I'm not even saying Toyota's are perfect - always seems to be something persnickety about them - my dad's Tacoma had a rear window latch that broke easily and wouldn't stay closed. He also had one of those noisy-arse leaf springs. My Tacoma had an interior light that would blow the bulb every few months. My wife's Tundra just ate exterior light bulbs - like a pack of 4 in 18 months or so.
But, what they DIDN'T do was:
1. Strand us
2. Fail to get the job done
3. Not be awesome, all day every day

Get a Platinum (or whatever the maxxed out) Tundra and thank us in 8 to 10 years.

I've got a 2016 Dodge 1500 for a work truck and the transmission does some odd shite.

True. I guess I got honeydicked by the new Rebel. I wasn't in my right frame of mind, lol

Love my Tundra. Only thing that sucks is mpg. It will do anything you need it to up there. Get a 1794 and you will be impressed.
