My dad had a 14ft Alweld extra-wide with a 15hp Nissan when I was growing up.

A year ago, my Father-in-law gave me his old 15ft Alweld that he no longer used. I've been keeping my eyes peeled for a deal on an outboard since then.

Yesterday I found one. Tangi Pawn had a 2002 15hp Nissan in pristine condition. Went over there, checked it out, ran it, cut a deal and bought it. It's identical to what my dad had except the new one has electric start.

Tossed it on the boat and when the boys got home from school we took it for its maiden voyage on Cane Bayou. Can't wait to make memories with them like my dad did with me in his boat.

Condolences, my friend. Lost my dad when I was only 15. So I definitely cherish my memories and look forward to making them with my boys.

The lifejacket on the first kid may be too large. Gotta check the weight that it is rated for.

I only post this because I got a ticket for having a child in too large of a life vest.

$25

Yeah. That's actually mine. I couldn't find his so I cinched mine up as small as it could go and rolled with it. The youngest needs a new one too. I couldn't even fasten the top buckle, it's so small on him now. Time for an visit to academy... Hahaha

Sweet outboard though. Looks bulletproof.

ETA: And your registration sticker is out of date.

damn, I just sent a coworker the Louisiana Sportsman ad for that exact same motor. Knew it was a good deal, and Nissan makes a good motor. My cousin had a 9.9 that would run a 14' aluminum over 20mph. Good deal, show them boys how to rip some lips.

Yep, Nissan or their alter brand, Tohatsu, are bulletproof outboards.

Thats a classic looking motor. I have a 3.5hp that stays in storage most the time but when I get it out she fires right up. Tohatsu is the actual maker of mine. Don't know if yours is the same but helpful to know when looking up parts.

Oh, and that redhead is going to give you trouble. I can tell.

I love Bayou Cane, three ecosystems within a couple of miles. You just have to watch that fallen sunken tree by the old brick house on the left when outbound.

Nice score on the motor, too.

they are great motors but as with any of them, the older ones are simpler and better and more reliable because of that simplicity
