I built a cover for a patio not too long ago, a full cover using a metal roofing system but there are similar systems using polycarbonate. Probably have to call around the local roofing/residential construction contractors to see if they know.

I'm certain there are opaque patio covers. You just might have to pay a little more to get it delivered if it's not something they routinely keep on hand.

I'd call some local companies and see what they have to say. I saw some opaque tin roof style sheets at Home Depot not long ago, but have my doubts that would hold up under heavy winds.

How many square feet is the area you are looking to cover?

Our patio structure is made of wood and I have the Suntuf poly panels and they work great.
