Man I just can't get used to that external extractor.
Mine has never failed to extract.
I guess it may just be the looks that bother you. But the external ones are easier to service too. A coil spring is swapped quicker than a "leaf" spring.

Piss poor front grip checkering and I like front slide serrations but other than that, beautiful.

His actually has OD grips on it. I love that gun.

Has anyone ever shot a Springfield EMP? I have always wanted one but could never justify the cost
Posted on 1/28/13 at 10:28 pm to JAB528
Well that fixes that. Still love it.

Yeah, it's a looks thing for me. Too much of a traditionalist I suppose.

Yeah that was a more of a rhetorical statement.

The pride of Yonkers. Another gun company still located in a fascist state. Come on down, boys.

There have been reliability issues with the 3".
I have never owned anything but a full-size 1911, but I have heard this as well. I think Yeager has a video of him talking to one of the head Wilson Combat guys at their factory. He (WC guy) actually says that the smaller guns have way more problems...the shorter the gun, the bigger chance you will have a malfunction. Basically the design is ideal for a 5" gun.
He mentions they even stopped production of the smaller guns in their Sentinel line because they wouldn't function as reliably. Take it for what it's worth. I know many of you feel very strongly about your 1911s, and some of you probably have 3" guns that have given you no problems.

I've heard good things and they can be had in a few different calibers.
I know there is an EMP40 owner on here. He should chime in.

Amazing how Kimber survives with his opinions out there

Not really. You're not the only person out there who "trusts" his own completely unfounded (on personal experience) opinion over those of people who actually know what they are talking about based on what they have experienced.
Also it's not a knock on Kimber as much as a recognition of the limitations of the platform. That pistol was not designed to have a 3" barrel and evidently, at least in 45, is not reliable in that configuration.
