you're probably one of those guys with 10,000 bucks invested in your kayak...and then you never get the chance to even weigh in

I went one time and it was windy as frick. Also, minimalist was always windy as hell and the bottom of the water was really close to the top.

One time at Basons, the day before minimalist, there was literally only one channel leaving the launch that had water. And it was about 8" deep.

Fun weekend. My best finish ever and had 16" trout and 24" red in the bag by 7am. I could have caught a limit of 12"-13" trout on topwater. I moved around trying for flounder but generally just had a good day fishing.

By the sounds of it the fishing was incredible all week but everyone kept tight lipped. The guy in front front me in line won mule trout... 5.84 lbs. Gave me trout envy

Yeah I knew slams would be few and far between. Bayard was the one who decided to have the tournament early in March. I had a good red and about a 2 lb trout by 7:30 and was fortunate to place in the slam. Damn near fished 6 hours for a flounder. It was just still too early.

Congrats! I seent that Bayard lost the bet. I drug a curly tail Gulp all over looking for flounder. What did you catch yours on if you dont mind disclosing?

Yeah he did. I told Sean to buy a nice bottle of wine and do a FB live as he sips the wine dedicating it to Bayard. The red was caught on a 1/4 jig head with a slayer lime and pearl swim bait. The trout was caught on a skitterwalk.

I read that wrong... I thought you were subtle in saying you were fortunate enough to catch a slam.

I caught as many 12"-13" as I wanted with white and chart top dog. Caught a few more with Gulp. Caught my red on Gulp. Everyone around me was having success under cork but I didnt get a single good bite using cork.

Yeah I've never caught a slam for that tournament. LA1 slamboree on the other hand I've always caught a slam. Go figure

I released some perfect tourney reds Friday hoping the Lord would bless me again Saturday. No dice. They were either bulls or <20". Weighed a 23" red and a 1lb trout. Not a flounder to be found.
