Same, fished it 2 years ago in that terrible weather and don't feel like fighting that the wind all day.

Good luck to all the brave kayakers that fish it though

Two years ago was fun.

Squalls with hail, lightning and 50mph gusts. That sealed the deal for my paddling days.

Lightening struck way to close for comfort one time. Hair stood up, fishing poles were vibrating...... Everyone in the marsh around me immediately starting high tailing it to the road. No one said anything either... it was freaky.

That was the first, and only time, I fished PaddlePalooza. I slept in my camper shell for that one and barely got any sleep, the weather stayed nasty all day. Last year a tree fell on the house 2 hours before we left, this year we have our engagement party. Obviously PaddlePalooza just wasn't meant for me.

2 years ago sucked. Warm night, light southeast breeze, perfect conditions. I was sitting in the GI public launch parking lot at 4am getting ready, watching a ton of fish pop under the lights at the LSU oyster hatchery. Then all hell broke loose with that storm right before 5am, we huddled under the oyster hatchery, the wind switched to blowing hard out of the north, the fish under the lights were gone, my day was shot and all the marsh in every direction was chocolate milk thanks to that storm. You can always count on crappy weather at PP, but I wouldn't miss it for the world. Always a blast and have been going for about 8years straight.

The weather is looking crappier and crappier. Now I'm trying to rethink strategy. Fish North or stay south?

Problem is I'm staying on the island. If I were driving in that morning or staying north of the bridge, it would be a no brainer. Leeville has been pretty on fire the last month or so.
