hey baws.

Looking for a outdoor tv sub 2k dollars. From my reading brightness is key. The tv will be 100% shaded area.

50+ inches preferred. Any suggestions? I would be using antenna and fire stick. I also have speakers and receiver all ready in the ceiling.

THanks for the help. I searched, but didnt see anything.

I Found this guy at bestbuy website. Seeing if there are better options... a sound bar would be nice addition to my components in the ceiling.

Best buy 55" neptune

NYC - SO you wouldnt be concerned with brightness at all. These outdoor tvs have like 500 candella rating and the indoor ones are under 250 per square meter in hdr

I wouldn’t be worried about that in the shade at all. I agree with the above, just get a cheap tv.

No not unless its in direct sunlight. just buy the biggest one you can fit, save your money for a better audio set up or a newer better TV in the future when new tech comes out

This. I bought one of those Walmart Roku TVs for dirt cheap and a cover from Amazon for like $25 and it's perfect.

Same. Televisions are pretty much disposable now they're so cheap. $200 tv lasts 5-8 yrs outside as long as it's not getting wet.

I have multiple TVs in my outdoor kitchen/covered patio and have gone through a few over the years. I can tell you for sure to get the cheapest Roku TV's you can find. They work great and last unless directly rained on. The current ones I have are Sharps and I couldn't be happier. I wouldn't hesitate to get a TCL roku TV either.

Completely agree. Find a decent "cheap" TV and it will give you what you need. If they don't last as long, you can replace it twice before hitting $2K. That said, it will almost certainly last as long unless you spend more than $2K on one of those TVs designed specifically for the elements. Again, how many times can you replace it for the money you're saving?

Yeah, once you get into quality OLEDs and QLEDs, the price increases significantly. I'd spend $2k on my living room TV without hesitation. I wouldn't spend more than $500 on my outside TVs.

Our outdoor TV is a 40" Vizio that we bought for our main TV when we bought this house 12 years ago.

It's been outside now for 5-6yrs or more and is still going strong.

Go with a cheap TV in whatever size you'd like and don't worry about outdoor rated. Also, just about every TV out now is "smart" so no need to mess with a firestick.

Have had a 48" samsung on the covered patio for 8 years now, no issues. Buy a new TV for inside and place the inside TV outside!

Same here. Best Buy guy tried to up sell me too. I saw a cheap tv in a best buy ad and went in to buy it. Their top tier guy approached me with a bunch of BS about being outdoors even in a well covered area that didn't get wet ever would cause regular tvs to fail quickly. Televisions get outdated so fast, I figured I'd want a new one in a few years anyway. New updates will quickly make a tv obsolete.

I did the math, said thanks, and bought the cheap tv with fire stick built in. I got the 2 year replacement warranty just in case. That tv is going on 4 years now without a hitch.

Which brings up a great point. I recommend figuring out which smart OS you prefer, then finding a TV that works with it. I have a couple of Fire TVs and a couple Android TVs. I personally prefer the Android TV because I'm an android user and the casting is just much better. The Fire TVs aren't bad, though. I haven't messed with any of the Samsung Tizen TVs, but I've heard good things about them.
