Opinions on Browning BPS

Looking at getting a new shotgun. Currently rolling with just my 870 youth. Want to stick with a pump in 12 gauge. I'm also cross eye dominant, right handed left eye dominant. So, the bottom eject would be nice too. Need something that will take a beating, I'm rough on my shotguns. Is the browning bps a good choice?

Big boy 870?

I'll sell you mine. Used once. The problem that I had was that I was used to a shorter pump stroke. Do that and there will be a significant delay before you fire the next shot.

Aren't the new 870s shitty though?

I've had one for 13 years, and it is my favorite shotgun I own (also have a Beretta Pintail and a Browning 20 ga Citori).

My favorite pump gun, and I own a Wingmaster and a Nova.

I have one. Shoots good, and seems pretty well built. Only thing I don't like, is that it is a little annoying loading when you load a shell with the pump racked back. Have to turn it upside down, rack it forward about half an inch, then set the shell on top there, then rack it forward the rest of the way.

I have one that got me through my high school and college days. Love that gun! Its a work horse! Kicks like a mule w high load shot in it, but oh well. I personally liked the bottom eject as it never sent shells flying around the blind.

I loved mine. I was a stupid kid and got my dad to swap my 20 ga for a 12 ga.

Hated that gun more than any I have ever owned. It simply did not fit me correctly. Plus it was a pain to completely strip and clean. Was built like a tank though.

Good gun. Had one for 16 years. No trouble and it's been put through hell.

I've had a 12 Ga BPS for a couple decades; great durable gun. My left handed son likes shooting it too.

Mine will forevermore chunk a shell out of the bottom when you pump, too. I can get a good 15' out of it.

Interesting, I gotta try pumping for distance.

Love mine, first 12 gauge and I still have it like 15 years later. It definitely will shoot a shell a long distance if you want to. Its definitely a little on the heavy side, but as said its built like a tank and most importantly for me its super quiet gun in the woods unlike a mossy or remington. The pump doesn't move and make noise like some of the other guns out there.

Mine has outlasted my 870. Best pump shotgun in my opinion. Currently mine is 16 years old and still going strong.

Thanks for all the input. Definitely going to check one out, and the price seems right on them.

The BPS is the best pump shot gun on the market now. They will shoot really tight patterns and come in every gauge.

I've had one since high school. I had to switch to shooting left handed after an accident left me blind in my right eye and I got tired of shooting my right handed 870. It took a lot of shooting for me to get use to the bps, I had trouble hitting with it at first. After I got passed that I loved it. The only downfall is that it is a pain in the arse to take apart and clean. I put mine through hell and can't seem to hurt it.
