Opening day deer hunt!
Posted by SpookeyTiger on 9/15/21 at 6:50 am130
Hunting our woods behind the house. In a 20’ hang on shooting a Mathews No Cam with 100 grain Rage Traypans.
61 with almost no wind.
Good luck to those lucky enough to be in the woods today!

Nope, Williamsburg, MO. About 90 miles west of downtown St. Louis.
No mosquitoes at all. Really nice out. Good day to split some firewood.

Working in St. Louis right now, feels nice outside. Acorn tree by my apartment is raining acorns, squirrels a chewing on them. Just watched a squirrel fall out of a tree, hit the concrete walk, and you could hear the thunk of his skull resonate. I guess another squirrel knocked him out, he crawled off, never saw him climb any tree, really weird…But wish I was in a tree with my Elite bow…

I’ll take that in the spirit with which it was offered.

Did you see anything?

Saw a ton of squirrels but no deer. Went back up to the house and did a little “work from home”. Back in the woods with my wife, hunting about 200 yds apart. Hunting the north side tree line where it meets the pasture. The deer generally make their way through here headed to deeper woods in the afternoon.
Definitely warmed up a bit. Sitting at 80 right now but the wind is favorable to our position and the breeze feels good.

Williamsburg, MO
2 years ago when planning my first trip to MO, I actually marked whetstone creek as a potential CA to hunt. Ended up more north west though. I don’t really have anything planned this year yet so maybe I’ll go check that place out.
