re: onX maps
Been using it 3 or 4 years now. I've marked every scrape, rub, tracked every walk in etc. I have a pile of data now. I almost can't live without it.

I use Gaia GPS. Can use the gps in airplane mode and it last for quiet a while.

Been using it for a couple years, great tool. Subscribe to Camofire emails, they usually have about 40% off once a month at least.

I was the same way. I recently switched to basemap and love it. Much cheaper since I hunt multiple states. It was super easy to import all of my data from onx

re: onX maps
I use it for out west and love it. Have certain areas downloaded on my phone so I can use it without service. Also have a gps with updated chip. It’s really nice for driving roads and being able to quickly identify public vs private land. But that’s in states with lots of public land. Not Louisiana

re: onX maps
I love it, used promo code 1st year now I just let it renew, I feel its worth the price. Used it the other night tracking a hog. Stop tracking due to not having a good light. Returned the next morning walked right to last blood, found hog in less than 10 min.
also use it to layout and size food plots, share stand sites. There is a ton of great tools on the app.
I log in online and plan all of my out of state hunts,

Bottom line I don't mind the price for the use I get out of it

Its an amazing tool for hunting public land, especially out west. Not as useful on private land.

Itll chew through some phone battery if you're tracking so make sure you pay attention to it.

I switched from OnX to Basemap and have not looked back.

Yes, Basemap is cheaper than OnX if you hunt more than one state. But I also find it easier to use and think it had more options for layers and satellite images than OnX.

OnX is great - don't get me wrong. I just think a lot of the hype it gets compared with Basemap comes from the fact that it is more heavily advertised and mentioned on social media. Basemap is the quiet killer.

Try both on the field before You settle.

I have used both. Both work. I like onx for the chip in my gps. I like using a real gps vs saved maps on my phone.

re: onX maps
I started using it two years ago. It’s especially useful if you hang and hunt. That app has walked me into and out of more than one South Georgia swamp in the pitch dark.

Folks have mentioned using it on public land but I absolutely adore using it on private as well. I’ve made it a point to document every bit of sign I see on our farm. Once you’ve done that for a while, the maps with the added utility of trail cameras help put together the big picture of deer movement on your land.

Download an offline map and put your phone on airplane mode. doesn't chew nearly as bad.
