Odd prop issue today - damn baseball cap

Cruising along at around 35mph then the engine begins to bog down. Both red light (temp and oil) warnings go off.
Whelp, it’s unnerving but I throttle down to neutral and kill the motor. Tilt the motor up and out falls a torn up white baseball cap. In all my years, never had anything like this happen.
Powered back up and all performed as normal. But, what’s the fricking odds of that happening?!?!
