I'm buying a canoe and the oar sizes are 48" and 60". What size should I get?

Heads up on the spelling error before the OT comes over here and lights you up.

Personally I like longer oars, so I'd go with the 60

A 60" paddle will work for a grown man, 48 is for shorter people in a canoe.

I'd go 60, but rule of thumb from outdoor retail is to go with the size that fits snugly from the ground to your armpit. I've helped people all over the spectrum and so far that rule of thumb has kept everyone happy.

If you're over 5', get the 60". Please quit calling it an oar. It's a fricking paddle.
