Nature finds a way, bro. I’m not wasting ammo on a coyote.

How bad are you hurting for ammo, baw? I’ll start a gofundme for you.

I will shoot them just because it makes me feel good like I did something good for the world.
Studies have shown that they move in and out of areas and if you take out a few then new one move in to fill the void and other females in the area because of less competition drop more pups.
So when you kill one you help your herd and hurt it at the same time!!

If you can’t be othered to explain the theory, what makes you think I will be bothered to look it up at your request?
Just kill coyotes when you see them

Basically when you disrupt the social structure by killing them the reproductive rates increase and you actually increase the population

So recent studies have shown the yotes have a much larger impact on deer population than recently thought. Also that they are becoming deer specialists in some areas. One area saw a almost a 90% kill rate of fawns in the first 4 months, all killed by yotes except one by bobcat.
On another different note but in the same predator vein. Bears and wolves are having a much larger effect on all species than previously thought.
Mountain lion population in GY down 50% due to wolves. Highest kitten and juvenile lost % ever recorded.
Rinella in 10 yrs will be saying frick me, the antihunt nuts outsmarted me.

We have an absolute shite ton of coyotes within a mile of the house.
And we have an absolute shite ton of deer.
So....

I have over 200 under my belt.. I quit killing them when I learned they were the number 2 predator of feral house cats, only behind moving cars.

It depends on your individual habitat. If you’re having a singular coyote visit your land on occasion, then I agree you should let it be or risk what you’re describing.
But, if you’re seeing different coyotes with some regularity, you need to take some out.

I've had as many as 11 in one picture.
Also we would get picks every spring with fawns or pieces of fawns in yotes mouths. This went on for about 3 years then we got a couple pics of some bad mangy ones and then nothing for a bit. Disease finally caught them but we are starting to see them again, only 2-3 at a time for now.

Good. The deer population around me needs to be thinned by probably half. Might as well start with the slowest fawns.

quote:dunno, I was being paid per yote - I never pelted them - but I'm sure the folks that were paying me did - pre mange they were actually really nice looking compared to now... I still laugh every time some one says they killed a 70 lb or bigger coyote... NO.. they are mostly fur. this new moon through feb was PRIME time though. It got my attention at 15 that when you killed one, more would always show up at same area.

smartest animal in north america.
