I’m fairly new to hunting. Growing up I never really had a place to hunt so I never went. I have a job now that pays good enough to where I can lease some property. It’s a deer and duck lease.

I’ve been on a few weekend hunts so I have the basic essentials like a gun and camo. I figured with Christmas coming up I could ask for things to help “get me up to speed” on what I’m lacking. So in ya’lls opinion what are some must haves or helpful things to have?

Bibs and a good parka. I have cabelas brand from about 15-20 years ago and it’s still holding up. Sort of canvas material.
I use them 3-4 days a week from October-February for deer and ducks.
Invest in good made outer gear and it’ll last you a long time

Also nice knife and skinning equipment. Havalon piranha razor knife is my go to.
Then a heavier knife to break bones.
Game shears are a must also

Is the thermacell really legit? I've been looking at it for a gift myself but I'm a skeptic. Is there a certain model that's best?

I would rather forget my bow than my Thermacell on an early season hunt round here

Most legit and important thing to bring in the woods early season. I can't hunt without one early season.

Rechargeable flashlight or spotlight
Cap clip on lights
And don’t worry about the downvotes. If someone will buy you Sitka, by all means, ask for it.

A cheap gift is a boruit headlamp.

Since it's been cold:

Neck gaiters
Warm wool hat
Wool base layers
Wool socks
Hand warmer muff (giggity)
Good boots

Moro, Arkansas. There’s some timber we’ll hunt but mostly it’ll be blinds for ducks. Deer will be out of shooting houses and tree stands.

I’m shooting a Franchi Affinity. Saving up for a SBE 2/3 but I’m actually loving my Franchi so I might keep it.

Rifle is a Winchester 70. I’m looking for a good quality scope tho. Any recommendations? Longest shot would be 200 yards.

I’m currently using just a plain Jane pair of Muck boots but my friend recommended a pair of Lacrosse Alphaburley boots. Says they’ll be warmer for the late season. Can anyone back him up?

I own a set of Lacrosse waders but I’m not too impressed. I’m looking to get a new pair but since I have these it’s not as pressing.

I would like a good day pack.

If you guys could list brands as well when you’re giving me ideas it’d help a lot! Thanks!

Guide is in charge of decoys, cameras, ice eaters, etc.
