IMO Just flush your motor out real good with the hose pipe or put your boat in freshwater within a day or two and run it good, also want to rinse your trailer off good too.

Just flush it really well when you get out of the water and you should have no problems. It would assume you do this anyway after leaving the water.

The closest we have to anything like that is called a drum. How are redfish to eat?

It could very possibly be the same fish. They have introduced red drum into many freshwater areas. They are one of the few fish that can survive either fresh or salt. Redfish are very good to eat. Even better to catch bc they will give you a HUGE fight.

Not the same fish. We call drum white perch up here. Not very good to eat either. I have caught some up to 8 pounds out of kentucky lake. Heard of some bigger ones but not personally seen any. I pretty much like to fish for anything thats willing to bite. Hows the catfishing down there?

Ah, I see. The catfishing is pretty good. As with anywhere, location, location, location. We used to fish the locks on the Red River alot. The Marco and Pollock locks specifically. Never in a boat bc you cant get close to the outflow in a boat. We would just bank fish with three once weights and sling it into the current close to the open gates using minnows. Caught many in the 5 to 10 lb range. Several much larger too. Was spooled several times there as well. That was the only catfishing I have done around that area. We mostly went for bass or crappie in the boat.

Sorry to ask so many questions but are there any cabins or resorts or mostly just hotels?

No problem. that's how we learn! As to cabins and such, There are several campgrounds in the central Louisiana area that may have cabins. Not positive. As far as resorts, doubt it. Unless you want to stay at the Grand Casino Coushatta in Marksville.

Toledo Bend has some cabins and resorts.
For Crappie near the bridge is where I catch them.
If you have the money, use a guide then you will have an idea where to go.

JT is a damn good guide on Toledo Bend.
Has a kick arse party barge and is a great fellow.
He even has a guest house next to his house and is reasonably priced.

You won't be sorry.

His Number is 318-228-5870.

That never appealed to me.
I see those guys out there and think how grateful I am to be in a boat.

I'm wearing shorts and a t-shirt today, and it's almost still hot.

IT's actually right at 50 deg. here today. Don't see this very often in January. Had some good thunderstorms go through this morning on my way to work. Had freezing rain Saturday. Indiana weather. Got to love it.

Are you going to be in Oakdale? That's where I'm from and it's about 2 hours.
