I say it's a new setup, but basically just had it blue printed, and worked over, with a muzzle break added, new scope, and a lighter pull trigger setup.

Wondering before I sight it in what round are people using these days on the .270. Been using federal premium boat tails for years, but looking for other/ newer options. Looking at ammo that it most effective in the 100-250yrd range as I have no shots over that.

Did you have a new custom barrel installed ? If so, which maker ? Do you reload or strictly shoot factory ammo ? Federal Premium has always been my recommended go to factory ammo.

I switched to core lokts after hornady let me down many years ago(at least thats what i convinced myself to believe ). Since that time the .270 is 4 shots on 4 deer and all four dead. Good enough for me.

Remington Core-lokts. Between my gun and my son's gun, 4 deer were dropped last year. 4 shots, 4 kills.

Factory Winchester barrel, with a custom machined brake added on to it. Kick went from unbearable to hitting like an ar. Just wondering if there is anything a lot better than the old school federal boat tails I've been running through it

Federal blue box 150 gr. Not the most glamorous thing out there but it's the best thing I've seen out of .270 for deer. Great terminal performance and they are cheap

I’ve shot my 270 for about 20 years. I went through every type of ammo possible in every price range while I was on the search for the magic bullet. Finally settled back right where I started and won’t make another move again. Remington CoreLokt.

140 grain has the perfect balance between drop and ft pounds at impact. The 150 drops too much and the 130 is a little soft on a bigger deer. 140 is the sweet spot. Core lock or the Hornady Lt magnum round are what you want.

I shot the Hornady ELD-X this weekend and it was devastatingly accurate and effective.

Hard to believe that a .270 was almost unbearable recoil.
Shoot an Accubond if you can find it.

I don’t believe in muzzle breaks. Especially on calibers that don’t really kick that bad.

Win 140 grain whitetail plain jane or Core Loks. Ballistics go to pieces on me, the solid bullet is quick enough out of a 270.

I think it comes down to what you like more - your shoulder or your ear drums?

but if you’re like me you’ll either have ear buds in your ears or ear muffs on to dampen the sound.

My .270 is the ultra-lite synthetic stock and regular barrel. Only weighed about 7lbs. Kicked harder then anything I'd ever shot. .300 mag, .444, .45/70, and so on. With the brake it feels like a tame ar15. Best investment ever. Just LOUD as shite!!!
