Have a friend with a decked out 4x4. Very nice truck. Motor is strong. He likes it a lot, downsizing from an F 150.

Like my son said, why wouldn’t you just get a Tacoma?

Solid trucks, but way over-priced, esp once you compare features to the Ranger Lariat.

Boo, thanks for the real-world review. Not many out there yet.

Ford Ranger 4x4

Can't speak for the ranger, but I made the move from a 2016 canyon to a 2018 F150. My problem with the current midsized trucks is that they're really not that much smaller than a full size. The interior, especially the back seat is more cramped, but overall the dimensions are not that drastically different. My 5.0 gets almost the exact same MPJ that my canyon got.

Couple that with what they are charging for midsized trucks, I don't think I could go back to a mid-size.

He owned an f-150 and bought a new ranger. Since the ranger is smaller than the f-150 I would consider it downsizing.

That sounds like the deal of the century.

My internet shopping shows that you can get a new 4x4 Ranger Lariat for roughly the same price as a F-150 XLT 2wd.

The 4x4 Tacoma's are in another stratosphere.

I like them a lot and wish I had some sort of need but damn they are small on inside and damn they are expensive for the size truck.

The chief complaint about mid size is the lack of price difference between a full size, but I'm curious if this hasn't always been the case? Were rangers much cheaper then F150s back in the 1990s? I have no idea.

I think the issue now is I can't even tell the difference half the time between a new silverado and new colorado. They are very similar looking and similar in size. Back in the day, the small trucks were small.

Yeah, I'm not a fan of the size either, but it is the perfect 4x4 for a city dweller who has to deal w/ snow.

maybe. the hunting club i go to, they all got their little taco trucks for driving around on the trails on property. Those kind of usages are awesome too.

i recently bought a Tacoma. i didn't like the ranger had a turbo 4 cylinder only and they are expensive. My biggest complaint on the Tacoma is the back seat leg room, it could be bigger. I do like the width of the truck. On the highway with a light foot i can get 23 mpg with the V6 4x4 crew cab.

The scary part is trying to park it in the garage and be able to open the door
